For those of us who dive both drysuit and wetsuit and want to use the same compass and have it on a bungee...what do you do? There is a trick I learned from watching a social media post (I can't remember who nor find it anymore!) that involves using a single piece of bungee of approximately 24 inches long. The length is determined by how much space you need to get over the ring on your drysuit wrist seal. You want it as short as possible, but you can still stretch it over the wrist seal.
Get It Started
Step 1: Tie a knot in one end
Step 2: Thread the cord from the TOP of the compass on the opposite side of the viewing window.
Thread the bungee cord
Step 3: Create one of the wrist loops by threading UP thru the front of the compass by the viewing window
Step 4: Cross in front of the viewing window
Note: no...this does not block the view of the window as the bungee becomes tight and straight across at the bottom of the window when it is being worn.
Step 5: Go DOWN the opposite side
Step 6: Create the other wrist loop by coming UP on the back side
Step 7: Tie a knot so everything stays together
It's Magic!
Drysuit
In the "open" position...you stretch it over your drysuit wrist seal cuff and it then compresses into your drysuit and undergarment.
Wetsuit
In the "closed" position...you move the loop from the front of the compass to the back of the compass which cinches up the wrist loops by 5-6 inches...which, for me, is the perfect amount for my 3mm wetsuit.
* If you need less room, such as diving without a wetsuit, you can pull up the knot end of one of the sides and tie a new temporary knot.
