Proper Belt Buckle Threading

[ Halcyon YouTube ]

Ever wondered why it's a royal pain in the butt to get your waist belt thru the buckle and why you have this flappy thing hanging out in front of you? Possibly because you threaded your belt buckle wrong...yes...there is a correct way to do it.
comparing the correct way and the wrong way of threading the belt buckle

The Wrong Way

Note how the belt is blocked by the "bump" made by the threading of the buckle. This is damn near impossible to resolve when wearing dry gloves. It also leaves the excess webbing on the outside instead of tucked neatly on the inside.

The Right Way

The "bump" is on the underside allowing smooth straight threading of the webbing. It also positions any excess webbing on the side of the belt against you the diver, instead of flapping about in front of you.

How To Do It

The KEY is starting correctly. After that everything flows naturally...

Step 1: Come in from the TOP of the buckle...not the bottom
Step 2: Go down and then back up thru the next slot
Step 3: Continue up and then back down thru the next slot
Step 4: Go all the way back to the beginning
Step 5: Come up on the "inside" of Step 1

Note: While creating this page I went and looked at all of the belt buckles I have and found one of them was routed wrong! Yes...we all make mistakes. Don't be discouraged. Just fix it and move on.
