How Dive Otter scores scuba gear
A hybrid dive boot designed for divers who want real traction, fast drainage, and the ability to wear the same footwear on and off the boat. I have used these boots for boat diving, quarry and shore entries, and pool work, both wet and dry, paired with a wetsuit. They drain faster than any wetsuit boot I have owned and are comfortable enough to wear as street shoes before and after diving. After switching to these, I threw out my other wetsuit boots.
Pros & Cons
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| Outstanding drainage with no water pooling after exits | Styling options are limited and not for everyone |
| Proper sole provides real foot protection on boats and rocky entries | Tactical look may not appeal to all divers |
| Comfortable fit for extended wear before and after dives | Slightly bulkier than minimalist neoprene booties |
| Eliminates the need to pack a second pair of shoes | |
| Has replaced all of my previous wetsuit boots |
Why I Chose the Alamta Maritime Assault Mid
I was looking for a wetsuit-compatible boot with a real sole, good wet-surface traction, and the ability to double as a street shoe. Traditional wetsuit boots always felt like a compromise: soft soles, slow drainage, and poor durability.
The Altama Maritime Assault Mid solved all of that. It drains extremely fast, feels solid underfoot, and is comfortable enough that I can wear it before and after dives without bringing a second pair of shoes. Since switching, I have completely stopped using traditional wetsuit boots.
Verdict
This boot does exactly what I wanted and nothing I did not. It provides real traction, fast drainage, and enough comfort to function as everyday footwear around dive days. The styling is not my favorite, but performance matters more than looks.
Would I buy it again? Yes. These have become my default wetsuit boot, and I do not see a reason to go back.
