Save-a-Dive Kit: Be Prepared for Almost Anything

Save a Dive Kit

What is a Save-a-Dive Kit?

A save-a-dive kit is a small but essential collection of spare parts, tools, and accessories that can fix common gear issues before a dive. Whether it’s a missing O-ring, a broken mask strap, or a leaking hose connection, a well-stocked kit can mean the difference between a smooth dive and sitting on the boat watching others enjoy the water.

There are two versions of the kit:

Storage & Organization

Full Save a Dive Kit

For the mini-kit, I "stole" a Tupperware box from the kitchen. Works great.

For the Expanded Kit, a cheap ‘Pelican’ knockoff case from Amazon works great for keeping everything dry, organized, and protected.

Maintenance & Customization

Even a well-stocked kit is useless if items are broken or missing. Here’s a simple maintenance checklist:

Personal Experiences with my Save-a-Dive Kit

During GUE Fundies class we had to reconfigure some of the student gear and I was the only person who had a full Save-a-Dive kit which allowed the instructors and students to configure their dive equipment in a more optimal way and continue with the class.

Multiple times at local dive sites I've been asked if I have wrenches for gear changes.

Once an Instructor was directed to me after several individuals pointed at me as the guy who has everything. He needed a sharpie to mark his dive buoy so it would not get confused with other dive buoys.
