Why I Chose Surf Fur Water Parka
I was looking for something to keep me warm and protected from wind during surface intervals. My high school water polo coat had been a favorite for years, so I already knew the concept worked. The Surf Fur was one of my first dive purchases because I wanted a reliable coat for both boat and quarry dives. I compared similar products and found Surf Fur’s design, materials, and reputation to be worth the price.
Who It Makes Sense For
This item is best suited for:
- Divers who get cold easily during surface intervals
- Boat divers in windy or cool conditions
- Quarry divers in spring or fall
It may not be ideal for:
- Divers in consistently warm climates
- Travelers who need very compact gear
Performance Around the Water
- Warmth Retention
- Keeps me comfortable even in windy, cool conditions between dives.
- Wind Protection
- Outstanding at blocking wind on boats and at quarries.
- Comfort Over Gear
- Slides on easily over a wetsuit or other layers without snagging.
- Travel Packability
- Bulky for luggage but fine for vehicle storage.
Ownership and Value
After two years of frequent use and storage in my truck, the parka still looks new. Its pockets are useful when changing out of a wetsuit, and it slides over wet gear easily. It is not a budget item or a compact luggage layer, but the quality and frequency of use make it worthwhile for me.
