Oxycheq Raider III Light Sock Review

A lightweight, low-profile Goodman-style handle that delivers secure control and full finger dexterity. The Oxycheq Raider III has been my preferred mount for slim dive lights like the D720, offering a stable and comfortable fit without the bulk of a rigid handle. It packs easily, holds position underwater, and has never interfered with task work or trim.

The Short Version

The Raider III handles everything I throw at it. It carries travel lights, bright compact primaries, and even tech lamps comfortably. I appreciate the secure feel without losing dexterity. If you use slimmer dive lights, this is a clean, reliable option.

Would I buy it again? Yes. It fits my style, supports my lights, and earns a permanent spot in my kit.

What Works

  • Full finger dexterity, hands-free use
  • Adjustable fit, ambidextrous design
  • Lightweight and packable
  • Includes D‑ring/webbing for tether
  • Well-built US product

What Doesn't

  • Not suitable for large or heavy canister lights
  • Bungees may stretch slightly over time
  • No thumb loop if you prefer hard handles

My Experience

The Oxycheq Raider III soft Goodman handle has been my go‑to solution for diving with slim lights like the Orcatorch D720 and D710. It holds securely, is ambidextrous, and offers full finger power. Unlike hard handles, it lets me operate gear naturally without adjusting my grip. It has held up well through advanced recreational dives and travel warm-water dives.

Why I Chose the Oxycheq Raider III

I needed a soft handle option to keep my D720 light hands-free during tasks. Rigid Goodman handles are bulky and overkill for my setup. The Raider III keeps muscle fatigue down and lets me focus on my task at hand (no pun intended) without repositioning grip constantly.

Who It Makes Sense For

This item is best suited for:

  • Divers using slim (~1 in) handheld lights who want hands-free operation
  • Travelers who prefer soft, compact kit components
  • Recreational and technical divers wanting simple, secure mounting

It may not be ideal for:

  • Canister or large‑head lights that require rigid support
  • Users who need thumb‑loop control for heavy lights

What It Is Like to Dive

Stability
No rotation or slippage during fin kicks or decompression stops.
Access
I can access buttons without changing grip, but twisting the bezel of the light one handed can be difficult.
Comfort
No bulk like traditional hard handles; blend of support and freedom.
Packability
Folds flat and fits into a pocket or light pouch easily.

Ownership and Value

The soft handle has held up well, although some bungee stretch over time is a consideration. It folds flat for travel and has given me the hand freedom I wanted without a rigid mount. At the $40 price discussed in this review, I considered the U.S.-made construction and utility good value.

The sock lets my hand stay relaxed while swimming or signaling, with buttons accessible without a constant grip on the light. Dual bungees and Velcro closures let me adjust the fit, and the arrangement has been stable with slim lights around one inch in diameter. The limitation is twisting a bezel: without rigid support, the light can spin inside the sock.
