Halcyon Tech Shorts Review
The best wetsuit-compatible storage solution I’ve found. These shorts deliver real drysuit-style pocket performance without compromise, giving me consistency across wetsuit dives that matches my drysuit rig. They’re rugged, drain well, and ride securely without shifting. I use them over everything from 7mm suits to rashguards

- Current role

- Still in my kit
- Yes
The Short Version
I don’t dive without them unless I’m in a pool. In fact, I liked them so much I gave a pair to the dive ops director at Beqa Lagoon and replaced them when I got home.
Would I buy it again? Absolutely
What Works
- Real drysuit-style pockets on a wetsuit-compatible garment
- Strong construction and plenty of bungees for clipping gear
- Matches my drysuit configuration for consistent pocket layout
What Doesn't
- Sizing runs small, order up
- Pricey for shorts, but justified
Why I Chose the Halcyon Tech Shorts
These matched the build quality and layout of the pockets on my Santi drysuit, giving me consistency across all wetsuit dives. I also liked that the construction was rugged enough for both local quarry dives and tropical use. I dive them over wetsuits and even over my Mako full body rashguard. They drain well and provide everything I want in terms of pocket utility.
Who It Makes Sense For
This item is best suited for:
- Divers who want drysuit-style pockets while diving wetsuits or rashguards
- Anyone seeking consistent pocket layout across drysuit and wetsuit kits
- Rugged use in both local quarries and warm-water travel
It may not be ideal for:
- Divers on a tight budget
- Those who can't find a proper fit due to sizing running small
What It Is Like to Dive
- Trim & Streamlining
- No noticeable impact on trim. Very streamlined even when loaded.
- Comfort
- Fit snug and don't shift once sized correctly. Sizing runs small, order up.
- Storage
- Excellent pocket design with internal bungees and drainage holes.
- Durability
- Withstood frequent use and travel. No failures or stitching issues to date.
Ownership and Value
After a year of diving, the shorts have held up without stitching failures or visible wear. They are expensive, but the useful pocket design and consistent layout justify the cost for the way I dive. Not wearing them in the pool is my preference, not a limitation of the shorts.
