Surf Fur Water Parka Review

Delivers exceptional warmth and wind protection for divers during surface intervals, making it a reliable choice for cold or windy conditions. After two years of use it has proven highly durable, easy to put on over wet gear, and perfect for modest wetsuit changes. While bulky for air travel and unnecessary in warm climates, its comfort, build quality, and consistent performance justify the price, earning it a permanent place in my dive kit.

The Surf Fur Water Parka was one of my earliest dive gear purchases because I hate being cold during a surface interval. I had something similar when I played water polo in high school and loved it, so it was an easy decision to get one for diving. After two years of use on Florida boat dives and spring or fall quarry dives, it has proven to be one of the most reliable pieces of non-life-support dive gear I own.
In my experience it is water-resistant enough to handle splashes and spray without issue. I have not tested it in heavy rain for long periods, but for dive use it has always kept me dry and warm.
Yes. The hand pockets are designed so you can reach through and adjust clothing or swap gear underneath while staying covered. This makes it perfect for modest and wind-protected wetsuit changes.
Exceptionally well. On chilly, breezy days it blocks wind and holds in warmth, which is exactly why I bought it in the first place.
Yes. While it is light enough to carry, the size makes it less convenient to pack in a small bag. I usually keep mine in my truck rather than a suitcase.
It still looks brand new despite living in the back seat of my truck most of the year. No signs of fraying, zipper issues, or fabric damage.

Why I Chose Surf Fur Water Parka
I was looking for something to keep me warm and protected from wind during surface intervals. My high school water polo coat had been a favorite for years, so I already knew the concept worked. The Surf Fur was one of my first dive purchases because I wanted a reliable coat for both boat and quarry dives. I compared similar products and found Surf Fur’s design, materials, and reputation to be worth the price.
Verdict
This is one of those rare items that has a permanent spot in my dive kit. I keep it in my truck most of the year so it is always available for cold-weather dives or unexpected chilly days. It has never failed to keep me warm and comfortable between dives.
Would I buy it again? Yes. I would replace it immediately if I lost it.
