The Halcyon Master SPG is a compact brass analog pressure gauge known for clear markings, a rugged housing, and tempered glass. After testing two cheaper gauges, I moved to this model for its 500 PSI reserve band and reliable readability in low light. Below are the pros, tradeoffs, and how it has performed for me across fresh, cold, and warm salt water.

Pros & Cons

ProsCons
Red zone starts at 500 PSIMore expensive than generic SPGs
Easy to read at any angleNot lightweight for travel
Brass housing with tempered glass faceNo color customization
No issues across any dive environment

Why I Chose the Halcyon Master SPG

I tried two cheaper SPGs before settling on the Halcyon Master. One had a red zone that started too early at 1000 PSI, the other had poor visibility underwater. This one ticked every box I cared about: compact, readable, precise, and a red zone that starts right at 500 PSI. It’s also built to last.

Verdict

It’s not flashy, but it does its job better than any budget option I’ve tried. After buying two other SPGs I didn’t like, I could have saved money by just getting this one first.

Would I buy it again? Absolutely.
